Below are some of the more common FAQ's we recieve.

The cost of a Plumber will vary depending on a number of factors.

Does the plumber work on a fixed price basis of do they charge by the hour?

The reason this matters is because when a plumbing company charges you by the hour, there is zero incentive for that company to employ a good plumber because, The longer the job takes, the more profit the company makes!

What this means is, if a company that charges by the hour and employs a good plumber, they make less money because that plumber will resolve your problem quickly. Compare this to when the same company hires a plumber with less to no experience and consequently takes 4-6 hours to resolve the same problem and earns the company far more money.

This is not to say you should always choose a company that works on a fixed price basis, for things like unblocking a sink or a new tap washer, there is a good chance a company that charges by the hour will be the cheaper option for those jobs.

Some plumbers do charge for a quote, some do not, but this raises the question of what you want a quote for?

High qaulaity Plumbing, Heating & Gas Materials are expensive, meaning it's impossible for a plumber to provide you with a high standard of work, using high quality materials, for a cheap price.   With Plumbing, Heating & Gas work, you will only ever get what you pay for.

With these facts in mind, if you are looking for a bottom of the range, bargain basement type of installation, find three companies that offer free quotes and then just choose the one in the middle!

If however you want a high quality installation that will also keep you and your loved ones safe in their home, you should expect to pay for a plumber to visit your property, to discuss your requirements and to provide you with no just a fixed price, but pricing options!

If you're in Eastbourne and you are looking for a company that works to a high standard, in full compliance with all Gas, Water & Building Regulations, contact us not to discuss your requirements.

This will depend on the individual plumber.

Whilst there are still some plumbers willing to invoice domestic clients for their work, due to the number of clients that either fail to pay their invoice on time, fail to pay the full amount or just refuse to pay anything, such companies are becoming less common.

The reason for this is simple.

When you go to the supermarket to buy your weekly shopping. Do you pay at the time you take the goods or does the shop send you a invoice to pay a few weeks later?

I know it's a silly question, but it illustrates the point perfectly. If a company earning tens of millions of pounds a day requires you pay immediately, why would a small tradesman company be any different?

At Exclusive Trades, we will take the payment for the materials before they are purchased. This means we are always using YOUR money to buy the Materials that will be fitted in YOUR property. Before we complete the work we will take the payment for the installation work. You would be amazed how many people think it's okay to try and re-negotiate the price of the work once it has been completed!

If you do not have the money to pay in full on the day the work is carried out, you will need to look for a company that is happy to send you a invoice for the work.

If you rent the property to another person, if you rent a spare room to a friend, even if you hostt students for a couple of weeks a year, in the eyes of the law, you are a Landlord and are legally obliged to have a Landlords Gas Safety Inspection for your property every 12 months.

If it is just you and your family that live in the property, there is no such legal requirement, HOWEVER...

Some home insurance companies will specify in the small print that you need to have a valid Gas Safety Certificate for your property to validate the policy.

A Gas Safety Inspection will identify any gas leaks that could be costing you money from wasted gas and will keep you and your family safe from the dangers associated with Carbon Monoxide poisoning.

Gas Safety Inspections are one of the areas we excel in and we offer this service for £187.00, which works out to be less than 52p a day!
